![]() 'Going Back To New York'- The Knocks remix (Party Supplies) That's probably the reason I like this song so much, I feel like the juxtaposition gives it an unapologetic, unforced sound that's really refreshing in this genre.Ĩ. It has this tropical vibe which I really dig, and the vocals are laid back and surprisingly very un-produced for such a pop/synth driven track. That's the kind of summer I want, full of music and friends. I was with my 2 best friends at the time for a late 16th birthday present from my mom, and I could honestly say it was the best memory I've had so far. This song takes me to summer of 2012, Central Park Summerstage with The Kooks and Kimbra headlining for FTP. 'Call It What You Want'- Foster The People Exactly how my summer would be (if I were still on the east coast.)Ħ. ![]() 'Naked Kids' might demonstrate that the most, it's basically a narrative about a bunch of friends hanging out and relaxing at the beach. They're another band that's all about fun and being with close friends. As you know from my previous concert post/review thing, I am a huge Grouplove fan. 'Hey, We Tried' was the winner only because it's my favorite. ![]() With their west coast, beachy/indie sound, they just scream "Summer in California at the beach."I could have used any song off of their album 'Teenagers' to put on this list because they all truly fit the description. Tennis System is basically synonymous with summer. 'Girls' does nothing other than symbolize all of the carefree, reckless fun I want to have this summer. And I do admit, I have had a few impromptu sessions in my room. In my post about The 1975 I mentioned just how fun and dance-worthy it is. This was (and might still be) my favorite song for a while. This is something I've had come to terms with. ![]() Real friends stick by you no matter what. It's ok to let go people grow apart and lose contact all the time. It also takes me back (no pun intended!) to those years and summers with past friends, and just makes me realize that they're in the past for a reason. This iconic song is highly recognized in the pop/punk world, and it just reminds me of summer as a pre-teen, discovering all of this new music in a genre that seemed so foreign to me at the time. 'You're So Last Summer'- Taking Back Sunday My ideal summer is the one she describes in this song.Ģ. She perfectly and eloquently describes my longing for adventure and self discovery, taking place in my favorite city, New York. 'Is Your Love Big Enough?' is the title track off of the album, which is full of gems, but I really relate to this one. She's amazingly talented at the guitar as well, which probably gives her 1000 more cool points. Her smooth, soulful voice and deeply heartfelt lyrics really resonate with me. Lianne La Havas is one of my favorite artists that I recently discovered. 'Is Your Love Big Enough?'- Lianne La Havas Now that it's officially my summer break, I thought I'd make a playlist of some of the songs that remind me of summers I've had in the past, and represent how I want this summer to be like.ġ. That whole concept is so crazy to me, it feels like just yesterday was my first day of high school as a little freshman. But now I'm officially a high school graduate, about to start signing up for college classes. Dude, it's been a hectic past couple of months.
